Sen. Betsy Johnson Visits
North Coast, Clatskanie, St. Helens, and Banks
to Discuss 2007 Oregon Legislature
Senator Johnson’s update will talk about funding for schools, health care reform, job creation, increase of state troopers and the state budget
SALEM - State Senator Betsy Johnson (D-Northwest Oregon) will host a series of Legislative Update town halls June 2nd and 3rd. As the 2007 legislative session moves toward adjournment, these town halls provide an opportunity to talk with Senator Johnson and her staff about funding priorities and issues. It will also provide an opportunity to ask questions about the 2007 session and other matters important to the district.
“The 2007 legislative session has had a number of successes, but I look at this as just a foundation for better things to come,” said Senator Johnson, “Oregon still has many decisions to make and public input is invaluable to ensure we have the best results.”
“I look forward to meeting with people throughout the district to get their perspective on issues remaining before the legislature, as well as their input on legislative priorities for the interim and February, 2008 special session.”
This session Senator Johnson has focused on job creation, adequate funding for our small schools, health care reform and increased public safety for rural communities. One major victory this session just happened in the State Senate when they added 100 additional state troopers.
“Adding more state
troopers does more than help in the fight against meth and combat identity
theft,” said Senator Johnson, “The 100 new state troopers are about
rebuilding a long-neglected but crucial department.”
Senator Johnson is a small business owner in Scappoose. She was first
elected to the State Legislature in 2000. This is her second term as state
senator.
This event is open to everyone.
